Sprinkled with groves of olive, almond and orange trees, the charming nine holes of the Cortijo Grande just down the mountain from Cabrera makes a great holiday venue.
Watered uniquely by an underground volcanic lake and in a very picturesque setting beneath the towering Sierra Cabrera mountains, this lovely little golf course is never busy and generally in good order. The holes are interesting and of varied lengths incorporating three par threes and 6 par fours over 2700 yards. For non members an easy pay and play policy will suit visitors not necessarily wishing to commit to a more rigid programme. Rates start from € 16.00 in the low season, representing excellent value to play over this delightful venue.
For the more ambitious golfer there is plenty of variety and quality to be found within easy reach. Desert springs is a magnificent championship venue just half an hour away. The only true desert course to be found in Europe, its fairways narrow and often winding, its greens well protected and undulating, it is probably one of the finest golf courses in Spain. Even nearer is Valle Del Este, another fine venue and a great test of golf. Full of narrow driving holes and challenging carries, Valle Del Este definitely merits a visit.
