Beaches

The extensive coastline of eastern Andalucia will surprise many visitors with its diversity and beauty.
Much of it is a world away from the traditional image of the "Spanish Costa". The coast is easily accessed from Cabrera being only approximately 20 minutes by car from some fantastic sweeps of blue flag beaches between Mojacar Playa to the south and Villaricos in the north. Maybe the most notable is the 6km long sandy beach which stretches away into the distance from the traditional fishing port of Garrucha with its busy marina and renowned fish restaurants.

The Cabo De Gata national park is a wonderful asset to the region with its pristine marine environment, sandy coves and rocky inlets.

The holiday visitor has much to choose from on the long and varied coastline of Almeria. The more traditional holiday beach scene at Mojacar, Garrucha, Puerto Rey or Villaricos is rarely busy even in the peak season and greatly benefits from the absence of high rise developments so prevalent elsewhere on the Mediterranean coast. To the south, diving, snorkelling, and sailing come to the fore where you can quite easily find your own private cove even in the summer months.
