Anyone that has travelled to Spain before will know it is full of surprises and a visit to Lucainena will leave you truly amazed.
This tiny village hidden yet accessible is a magical place. Equidistant from the beautiful beach at Agua Amarga and Almeria city it is ideally placed for both sightseeing and relaxing.
Nestled in the olive groves the village originally mined Iron Ore but after the civil war the mines gradually closed and the old railway that took the ore to the coast became derelict. Recently it has been transformed into one of Spains Via Verdes (greenways) and is ideal for walking and cycling as it passes through some stunning countryside.
Lucainena has a number of bars that serve outstanding tapas and meals, a small shop that caters for all essentials, a pharmacy and even a luxury hotel that boasts two restaurants and a tapas bar. Furthermore the village has a large municipal outdoor pool with separate childrens pool, tennis and padel courts and even football pitches.
Fort Bravo and Mini Hollywood, two of the regions top attractions, are within 15 minutes drive and the regional motorcycle race circuit is a similar distance.
Not far from Lucainena is the delightful Andalucian town of Sorbas. Famous for its ceramics it sits precariously on a cliff edge and is a sight to behold.
The narrow streets are full of artisan potteries selling locally made ceramics that sit baking in the sun before being hand finished and painted in the traditional Andalucian style. Numerous tapas bars also dot the town and where better to soak up the true flavour of this Spanish town than in a little cafe watching the world go by.
